How does Storytelling Impact Education?

Moses ardently champions storytelling in education, perceiving it as an informational tool and a catalyst for lasting impact and reform. Highlighting the formidable combination of messages and narratives, Moses contends that stories resonate more deeply with students. He acknowledges, “Storytelling is a dynamic force, ever-evolving and providing crucial lessons to prevent the repetition of errors.”

Moses delves into the profound changes in human society, shedding light on technology’s role in reshaping the storytelling landscape. From traditional tales to virtual experiences facilitated by gadgets, stories now transcend geographical boundaries, reaching a diverse global audience. Moses draws inspiration from the Nebraska Storytelling Festival in the U.S., driving him to host the Bayero University Storytelling Festival.

With a vision to create life-changing experiences through storytelling. He believes the festival will foster a profound sense of connection within the school community. Advocating for the potency of story exchanges, he believes they empower young individuals by fostering understanding and empathy.

Moses envisions storytelling not merely as an informational tool but as a catalyst for positive transformation within educational spaces. The Bayero University Storytelling Festival, featuring a diverse array of seasoned and amateur storytellers, ignites a collective fire, centring stories around campus and school life.

Noteworthy tales, such as “Mind the Gap” by Sir Muhammad, “The Inspiration Behind My Piece” by Heedaya Mahmoud, “How I Won the Wole Soyinka Prize” by Mujajid Amin Lilo, and “Dora” by Stephen Bitrus, captivated a diverse audience representing over 24 departments from various faculties across all four campuses of the university. From mass communication to biochemistry, the festival showcased the universal appeal of storytelling, transcending academic boundaries and fostering a sense of collective passion and understanding.
